(There WAS a list of names on this - I lost it. I believe the woman at Donald's lower left is Daisy Wilhoite. The woman at his upper right is probably Dolores Wilhoite.)

Frances, the daughter of Frank Stith of Richmond, was left without resources at Mac's death, and went into the wholesale grocery business, traveling all over the South to promote Virginia products: she was responsible for putting peanut butter (the goober paste the servants made for the children's tea) on the Southern market. Eventually, she made a healthy little fortune of her own. A noted beauty, she had distinguished admirers, such as John Hay, and was very friendly with him and Henry Adams. She was also a very close friend to her cousin, Edith Bolling Galt, who married Woodrow Wilson in 1915.
The Stiths were a very distinguished Virginia family, allied with the Dabneys, the Bollings and the Randolphs (source of the connection with Thomas Jefferson and John Marshall, both of whom had Randolph mothers) - and John Randolph of Roanoke, also Robert E. Lee.
