WEIRD

Weird

My friends all said I shouldn't. “Girls don't ask guys out. He'll think you're weird.” So I didn't. I figured I'm weird enough. Why push my luck?
But then I'd see him, and he'd kind of look at me, and then he'd look away, and I felt like he wanted to, but he never would. He just would never ask me out.
Now that was weird.
So one day we were talking and he kept not looking me in the eye and finally I said, “Do you want to go out some time?'” And do you know what? He blushed. Turned bright red. Then he said, “Unh-huh.”
“What?” I said. And he flinched.
“Yes.”
“Yes, what?”
Now he actually looked scared. “Yes, I'd like to go out some time.”
“Well, good,” I said, “That's settled.” And he looked relieved. Like he'd thought I was going to hit him or something. “Do you think I'm weird?” I said.
He mumbled something.
“What? Speak up! I can't hear you.”
“Kind of, yeah.”
“Good,” I said. “Just so we got that straight.”.
