Ellen Burke: Doctor? My daughter. How is she?
Doctor Lee: You're Samantha Burke's mother?
Ellen Burke:
Yes. Will she be OK?
Doctor Lee: We're doing some tests.
Ellen Burke:
Tests? But she only has -
Doctor Lee: Internal bleeding. Maybe worse.
Ellen Burke:
No. That can't be. She hardly had a mark on her when I brought her in.
Doctor Lee: Why don't you tell me what happened?
Ellen Burke: She... She was climbing on a bookshelf and it
fell.
Doctor Lee: Fell how?
Ellen Burke: Uh... Forward…
Doctor Lee: On top of her head?
Ellen Burke:
I'm not sure.
Doctor Lee: Aren't you?
Ellen Burke:
Why are you asking me all these questions?
Doctor Lee: You know, you're right. I'll leave that to the experts. (Walking away.)
Ellen Burke:
Where are you going?
Doctor Lee: To call the police.
Ellen Burke:
Wait!
Doctor Lee: Yes?
Ellen Burke:
I didn't mean to do it. I can explain.
Doctor Lee:
I'm sure you can. Don't worry; you'll get your chance. But your
little girl's body tells a story of its own, and that's the one they'll hear
from me.
